The Girls SRHS Varsity Soccer Team showcased their annual senior night, at their last home game of the season to celebrate their seniors who are graduating by calling them down for a walk out one by one. Younger teammates give them baskets with their favorite things.

“My favorite part about the tradition of celebrating the seniors is senior night,” senior Keira Torres says, “It gives the seniors a moment of recognition for staying committed to represent the school as well as sticking through each season whether the team plays a great game or bad game. I think it’s important to recognize the dedication the seniors give towards this program.”
This senior night was a way to recognize the seniors and their accomplishments as their years have gone on. The soccer team recognizes the senior’s late nights, after school practices, long drives, and their laughter during the soccer season. Their dedication brought the team together and helped them make it to the play-offs this season.
“I think most of all I’ll miss all the people I’ve met along the way to my senior year,” senior Abigail Zito explains. “Every last person I’ve met has affected me in some way and I truly am going to look back on these years and reminisce about all the memories I got to create. I’m so grateful to have met all these amazing people that I hope I’ll know for years and years to come.”
Seniors have many experiences that have got them through their high school years. Their friends, teachers, families, and memories have brought a new meaning to their school years.

“Soccer is my first love, it has shaped me into who I am,” Torres explains. “It’s taught me commitment and discipline. Soccer has made me feel successful and created friendships with teammates that you can’t replicate anywhere else. It has also disappointed me, taught me resilience, and how to work harder to be better.”
Soccer as a whole has shaped Torres on the pitch and as the person she became today. Through the ups and downs, if someone truly loves something they are passionate about, their lives will carry on in more ways than imaginable.
Zito said, “I’ve changed in how I view the way life works. Learning that life isn’t going to stop for anyone and sometimes all you need to do is enjoy life rather than stress is so so so important. We’ve all lost sight of what life is and why we’re even here and wasting time trying to figure out all the what if scenarios instead of enjoying every moment we possibly can really eat at us. We only live once so why waste time we could enjoy living in?”
These seniors have different perspectives on life in general. There is no reason to be wasting life on boring things, but rather live to its fullest. The chapters that they are now leaving behind is just the beginning of new opportunities for these student-athletes both on and off the field.
