The Shadow Ridge JV has been unstoppable this season, racking up win after win and keeping up their undefeated streak alive. The team’s success has been built on hard work, chemistry, and relentless focus on execution, something they’ve been working hard on since summer.

Head Coach Brandon Buteyn said this group’s preparation has been exceptional from the start.
“It’s a great feeling to have the team undefeated this far into the season, last year’s JV team went undefeated and we totally expected to do the same this year,” Buteyn stated.
He noted that the level of discipline and precision from the offensive and defensive lines has set this team apart.
Even though they’ve dominated opponents, not every game goes smoothly. One matchup that stood out was against Canyon Springs. The Mustangs built a big lead but stumbled late with several turnovers, holding on to win by just four points.
Buteyn expresses, “It was a big let down in execution to fumble the ball multiple times the way we did, being up 20 points in the fourth quarter.”

Sophomore, Caedyn Betoing, a running back, pointed to the team chemistry as a major reason for their dominance.
“The biggest reason for the team’s success has to be because of our chemistry with each other. We all respect each other and bring each other up,” Betoing says.
Betoing called his teammates “like brothers” and said it’s the bonds that help them push through when games get tough.
Sophomore, Darius Evans, defensive end, agreed that what happens off field plays an important role.
“The biggest reason for me and my team’s success is how we are on and off the field towards each other, and how we treat each other,” Evans mentioned.
That camaraderie shows during games, where the players find themselves constantly encouraging each other and pushing one another to improve.

While the team record speaks for itself, individual growth has also been evident. Betoing said he’s improved his ability to read blocks and make more efficient runs. Evans has focused more on becoming a leader.
“I’ve matured and figured out how to help myself and my teammates,” Evans expresses.
The Mustangs know the job isn’t done yet. Goals remain high, not just finishing undefeated but setting the stage for next year’s varsity team. For now, Shadow Ridge’s JV squad has one clear mission: keep winning, stay locked in, and prove they are the best in the league.
