Kickers consistently score the most points. This is definitely true for Varsity Shadow Ridge kicker, junior Bryan Brimhall. Brimhall’s athletic journey began on the soccer field, where he spent his younger years honing his skills and passion for the beautiful game.

However, as he grew older, a new sport caught his eye: flag football. He made the transition, enjoying the fast-paced, strategic nature of the game and developing a new set of athletic talents.
Brimhall says, “I love soccer and it will always have a special place in my heart, but my passion is for football now.”
The pivotal moment in Brimhalls’s athletic career arrived during his freshman year of high school. He decided to try out for the football team as a kicker, a position that combined his natural leg strength from soccer with the precision and composure required for crucial plays. His talent quickly shone through, and he earned the starting kicker position, showcasing his ability to handle pressure and deliver for his team. Just when Brimhall was hitting his stride and demonstrating his potential, an unfortunate injury sidelined him for his entire sophomore year. This was undoubtedly a challenging period for the young athlete, as he had to endure the frustration of watching from the sidelines while his teammates competed.
He has a special bond with many of his teammates. Sophomore Max Trenholm said, “He really encourages me to do better and makes the team a more energetic place.”
However, Brimhall’s resilience and determination never wavered. He focused on his recovery, working diligently to regain his strength and technique, all with the goal of returning to the field. He trained during track and field to gain speed. Brimhall’s perseverance paid off, and he made a triumphant return to the football field during his junior year. He once again assumed the role of kicker, proving that his time away had not diminished his skills or his competitive spirit. Brimhall recently won MVP of the game against Citrus Valley.
“I enjoy the team, the energy and being able to play the sport. I also enjoy the coaches and how they motivate us,” Brimhall says.
As he continues his junior year, all eyes will be on Brimhall as he continues to make his mark on the football field.
