Shadow Ridge High School’s Women’s Golf Team has been improving and working hard these last few years, and plans to work even harder this year. Shadow Ridge Senior, Ayvah Rossi, has been playing golf for almost a decade. For her, Golf has been more than a sport, it has been a journey of growth and passion. Rossi’s grandfather bought her a set of clubs for her eighth birthday, and she has been passionate about the sport ever since.
“I started playing golf at Shadow Ridge because I really wanted to drive golf carts and my grandpa bought me clubs for my 8th birthday.” Rossi stated, “I had been playing for 8 years after that birthday, and I wanted to make new friends and connections.”
With her grandpa inspiring her, she began to play golf, finding passion in the sport. Rossi has come a long way, always striving to impress her coaches and peers. She makes it a point to take every opportunity for practice and help from her coaches.

“You have to be comfortable trying new things, golf is definitely not as easy as it looks but as long as you’re having fun and trying it’ll be a good experience,” she explains.
Rossi admits that there have always been hard and frustrating moments in her golf career, but she continued to work and improve to be better. She explains how golf can be challenging at times, but the more work she puts in, the more she sees improvement in her skills. Committing to her sport has helped her better her skills and motivate herself to continue doing better.
Rossi states, “When I got in a rut shooting the same score over and over again it made it hard to feel like I was improving, but after I switched coaches and put in more work, I saw the improvement.”
She explains that over time in her golf career, she has seen a lot of improvement through hard work, and trial and error. Switching coaches and finding a new perspective helped her to better herself, her skills, and set higher goals.
“This season, I’ve become more social and more coachable. I think I work very well with my teammates. This year, I have been working hard to qualify for state again,” stated Rossi.
With her dedication and commitment to golf, Rossi continues to prove that golf is more than a game, and that it is about passion and growth. As she pushes herself to create new goals and support her teammates, she is a player who will put in all of the hard work to be better.
