During the fourth quarter at Shadow Ridge High School, both anatomy classes are accepting baby related donations that will be given to the SafeNest Organization, a center that is truly dedicated to ending domestic and lascivious violence in Clark County.
The anatomy classes are working with this organization as they help students learn about the different stages of fetal development and physical and mental changes that occur during pregnancy while they track the fetal progress of their “class baby.”

According to anatomy teacher, Amber Smith, “We will be celebrating pregnancy milestones for our class baby as well as hosting events like a gender reveal and baby shower. During this time, we will be collecting baby gifts, and any items collected will be donated to SafeNest women’s and children’s shelter – a shelter that provides care to victims of domestic violence, sexual violence, and human trafficking.”
Donating, especially to the SafeNest Organization, isn’t just a charitable act; it’s a powerful investment in the health, safety, and future of the entire Clark County community.
By donating to SafeNest, it helps the organization break the cycle of domestic violence, providing immediate shelter and long-term resources for survivors, from ages as young as babies to elderly individuals.
Every donation helps ensure that a person lives in a safe environment, free from fear, and that they can live their lives with dignity.
The SafeNest Organization empowers the public to learn about healthy relationships and offers the respect and care that survivors deserve in their most vulnerable moments.
Smith adds, “Giving back to the community has always been a huge part of my life, and it’s something that I hold very close to my heart. I believe that if we have the ability to help and care for others, we have an obligation to do so – especially our most vulnerable populations.”
The anatomy classes are accepting the following donations: diapers (all sizes, especially sizes 5 and 6), new strollers, clothes and pajamas size NB-5T for males and females, baby body wash and shampoo, baby wipes (sensitive skin), diaper cream, pacifiers 0M+, and infant socks (all sizes).
All donations can be brought to rooms 910 and 917 all the way up until May 15th, 2025.
Anatomy teacher, Keri Chambers states, “I love that we have been able to incorporate this community service event as part of one of our anatomy units. Many of the women and children at this shelter come with literally nothing because they often have to flee their homes in a hurry. It feels good to donate items that we know are needed, will be used, and will be much appreciated.”
