At Shadow Ridge High School, not only do students get to choose their lunch from the meal options and pick from a variety of fruits and vegetables, but they also get to choose from a selection of different milk flavors.
Traditionally, the school district has provided white milk and chocolate milk as their only options for a dairy source. This year, however, Shadow Ridge High School (along with many other schools) added new flavors to these milk options, provided by TruMoo.

Earlier in the school year, TruMoo’s strawberry milk was introduced at Shadow Ridge and has kept its place as an alternative to chocolate and white milk for those who desire something a little different from the usual milks. The most recent milk addition is TruMoo’s orange cream milk, which is currently a limited edition milk.
This limited edition orange cream milk has without a doubt intrigued the students at Shadow Ridge. At first, many students had never heard of orange cream milk before it was brought to the school, and they questioned whether they would like it or not.
Sophomore Mahaila Nickels shares, “My opinion on the orange milk at our school is that it tastes like warmed up orange creamsicle, and it is gross. Do not try it.” On a scale from one to ten, she gives the milk a zero.
Similarly to Nickels, sophomore Kenidy Clapp is not a fan of the orange cream milk. Clapp explains, “The orange cream milk was not to my liking. I would not get it again.” She also described it tasting like a “warmed up creamsicle.”
Many students have compared the taste of this new milk to the taste of a melted orange creamsicle. Whether that is a good or bad thing varies depending on the student.
“It tastes like a melted popsicle, so it is kinda weird, but it is not bad,” sophomore Brooke Bishop comments.
According to TruMoo’s website, the orange cream milk is usually seasonal and only available during the fall. Shadow Ridge cafeteria workers have shared that they have orange milk simply because it is the milk that they have been given from the district, so it is what they are serving. It still remains a mystery exactly why orange cream milk is being served at schools currently, but in the meantime, students can enjoy this unique and limited edition milk flavor along with their other options.
