Senior, Jamarion Whitson, has committed to Mt. San Antonio College to play football and become a collegiate athlete. Whitson has been playing football for most of his life, he has made the sport into a gift for his future self.
Whitson has been playing this sport since he was six years old. He chose Mt. San Antonio college because it stood out to him, he believes that it will be a good start for his sports career after he moves on from high school.
“I chose this college originally because it seemed like a great way to improve my skills on and off the field, as well as to help me become a better student in the process,” comments Whitson.
Whitson originally came to Shadow because it was the nearest school. However, he found that with his experiences throughout the years, that he made a good decision.

Whitson mentions, “I started playing for Shadow Ridge because it was honestly the closest school to me, and I had heard good things about their football program. I figured it was a good place to start and see where it could take me, and I am looking forward to starting college that way too.”
Whitson is looking forward to playing out his future football years, however he is nervous about the schooling aspect of it all. Some seniors may feel like this as they move closer to graduating and going on to college because of the dedication it will take for them to be successful.
“I am not really looking forward to the school side of things, for sure, like the actual classes and all that. It’s not really my favorite part, but I know it’s part of the deal, so I will manage,” states Whitson.

Every kid dreams of what their college experience will be like, it is no surprise that Whitson is looking forward to many different opportunities and situations during his years at Mt. San Antonio.
Whitson comments, “I am definitely looking forward to the competition. I’m excited to go up against the best and really test myself. I want to see what I’m capable of at that next level. And honestly, I’m just wondering what college life will be like — I’ve heard a lot, so it’ll be cool to experience it for myself.”
The head coach of the Shadow Ridge Men’s Varsity Football team, Coach Foster, has seen Whitson grow from the freshman he was to the dedicated senior he is today. Coach Foster is proud to see Whitson getting to play something he is passionate about.
