Excitement at the Ridge is building up as Winter Formal is approaching. This Friday, February 7, 2025, is Shadow Ridge’s Winter Formal dance at the school from 6-9pm. Students can get their tickets in the quad this week on A days for $15, or at the door on Friday for $20. For an additional $1, the ticket also comes with a complimentary Polaroid photo at the dance!
In years past, Student Council has hosted a Sadie Hawkins dance around this time of year. However, this year, Student Council made the decision to host a Winter Formal instead.
The class of 2027, otherwise known as the current sophomores, are in charge of Winter Formal this year. Sophomore Class President, Esmeralda Amador, shares, “This year, the sophomore class wanted to experiment with the success of our designated event through altering our Sadie’s to be more formal and dance-based. The key differences are, of course, formal wear, and not implementing a carnival. Think more like a Homecoming or Prom, but a little smaller! Regardless of the differences compared to years before, Mustangs are ensured to have the same fun experience.”
For the traditional Sadies, the dress code is more casual wear and is set up with different games and activities as opposed to the more conventional dance.
Sophomore and member of Student Council, Brynna Williams, adds, “The Winter Formal has a similar vibe to Sadie’s while being a little more formal and extravagant. Girls can still ask guys to the dance or vice versa. It’s a great way to interact with each other in a fun environment. The Winter Formal is a great social gathering, so invite your friends and come have a good time.”
Winter Formal provides a great opportunity for students to hang out and party hard. Students are sure to have an enjoyable time with what Student Council has planned for them.
“Students should expect a dance-like atmosphere with lots of music and photo-ops. Look forward to dancing the night away with friends and having a great opportunity to make memories!” Amador remarks.
Not only does attending the Winter Formal have its upsides for those going, it also helps support the sophomore class. Amador urges students to “Attend, attend, [and] bring a friend!”
“Attending not only provides students with the benefit of having fun, but for our sophomore class to be sufficiently funded as well. Never pass up a good opportunity to hang out and make the best of memories with friends!” Amador states.
