The Shadow Ridge High School girl’s Basketball Team is getting ready for another season, ready to show their skills, teamwork, and competitive spirit. With a strong roster and a dedicated coaching staff, the Lady Mustangs are going to make their mark in the league and inspire their fans with every game.
The Lady Mustangs pride themselves on their approach to the game. From sharpshooters on the perimeter to dominant rebounders in the paint, the team has a mix of players who excel in their roles. Returning upperclassmen bring leadership and experience, while underclassmen bring energy and new talent into the lineup.
Head Coach Johnny Wheeler leads the team with a focus on fundamentals, defensive intensity, and having a winning mindset. Under his coaching, the Lady Mustangs have become known for their defense and ability to work with tough opponents.
“This team has an incredible heart,” said Coach Johnny. “They’ve shown a level of commitment and drive that makes me proud to coach them. I’m confident they’ll leave it all on the court every single game.
Last season, the Lady Mustangs made huge progress, earning status on their hard work. They fought hard in every game, showcasing their potential to compete with good teams in Las Vegas. This year, they are trying harder with goals of advancing deep into the playoffs and contending for a championship title.
This season’s roster is filled with standout athletes. Junior Jaslyn Jefferson, is a forward who dominates on the boards and brings a strong inside and outside scoring presence. Sophomore Zh’oey Reddick is an all around player who can contribute on both ends of the floor, smart in transition and perimeter defense while also being a scorer. The team’s biggest strength is in their chemistry. The players trust each other, communicate with each other, and push each other to get better during every practice and game.
“We trust each other,” said Zh’oey Reddick sophomore guard. “No matter the situation, we know someone will step up when it counts. That’s what makes us strong.”
The Shadow Ridge community plays a big role in the team’s success. The gym comes alive on game nights, with fans filling the stands to cheer on the team. The players often mention how much they love the support, and how it motivates them to give it their all every time they step on to the court. With a challenging schedule ahead, the girls are prepared to face tough teams and prove themselves. Their focus remains on growth, both as individuals players and as a team.
The Shadow Ridge Girls Basketball Team embodies the spirit of hard work and determination. As the season unfolds, the Lady Mustangs are ready to not only compete but to inspire other young lady’s. Fans are encouraged to come out and support the Lady Mustangs for the season ahead.
