At Shadow Ridge High school, there are a lot of language classes for students to choose from, but French with Madame Spanier is a top choice for many students. Regina Spanier has created a fun and comfortable learning environment for her students. Her enthusiasm for teaching the French language is contagious, and she promotes a sense of community in the classroom, encouraging collaboration and participation. In French, students gain more than just learning a language. They gain friendships and skills they can’t find anywhere else. Spanier’s dedication to her students’ success ensures they leave her class with a deeper appreciation for the French language and its rich history.
Spanier states, “I love languages! I found out that it is so awesome to share French with all of my students. I originally wanted to be an interpreter, but I am so glad I became a teacher! It takes a lot of effort, but I think if you love what you teach, it will hopefully rub off on your students.”
Madame Spanier’s passion for teaching extends beyond just the language itself; she is invested in her students’ success and well-being. Her enthusiasm and dedication create a positive and welcoming classroom atmosphere, where students feel comfortable and motivated to learn. This commitment is evident in how she makes sure every student stays on track, providing the encouragement needed to succeed in mastering French.
Junior, Alexa Ledgerwood-Smith shares, “Madame Spanier is always supportive and cares about all of her students. She always makes me feel cared for and always makes sure we are caught up with the classwork and notes so that we stay on track. I love my French class because Madame makes it less challenging for us to learn a new language by breaking it down for us.”
The strong connection between Spanier and her students is shown in the way they describe her classroom. Her support goes beyond simply helping students with coursework, she creates an environment where they feel valued and understood.
Spanier continues, “My favorite thing about teaching is the students! Why? I love teaching teenagers! They think for themselves and pretty much take care of themselves. Plus, you can tell when they understand a concept. It really is awesome. I have the best students in the city! There are so many fond memories with my students. I have a new one this year. My period 2, FRII Honors class made my 60th birthday very special this year! It was amazing. I will never forget it. Only my 16th birthday was better or close to the same!”
