This upcoming week at Shadow Ridge High School, the staff members have organized a Christmas themed spirit week starting Monday, December 9th all the way through Friday, December 13th, to prepare students for an amazing 2024 Christmas season.
At Shadow Ridge, it is a top priority of the administration to encourage their students to be in good spirits, especially when they are nearing final exams, which can be a very stressful time for both students and teachers.
Sophomore, Drew Conrad, comments, “I think the Christmas spirit week will take some of the stress of exams off by giving students something different to focus on instead of just worrying about their grade.”
This year, Shadow Ridge is taking the Christmas season to a whole new level, with a week full of holiday themed days and activities.
Junior Lili Roque says, “I think the upcoming spirit week encourages Christmas spirit by getting students to engage in Christmas themed events.”
Exam season can be very stressful for everyone at Shadow, so the administration tries their hardest to take off the stress for both the students and staff. Roque also says, “Spirit weeks can take off the pressure of exams because they can serve as distractions and make students feel more involved, and participating in the Christmas spirit can ease your mind from the pressure of exams.”
Spirit weeks are well-known at Shadow Ridge, and each one can really uplift students and prepare them for the upcoming events, such as Christmas.
Conrad adds, “I think this spirit week encourages Christmas spirit by giving students a positive outlook on the holiday and to get them even more excited.”
Many students at Shadow Ridge love the holiday season, including Roque. She comments, “I like Christmas because of the happiness that comes with it, and celebrating Jesus.”
Conrad states, “Students should participate in spirit weeks because they are harmless and create happiness seeing the different outfits around the school, and seeing how others style said outfits.” This spirit week is also a great way for students to express their creativity through different ways of showing their Christmas spirit.
The Christmas spirit week coming up can also get students excited about winter break, seeing as the stress of exams will be gone as soon as exam week ends, and this week can help students look forward to their nice 15 day long winter break starting Friday, December 20th, and classes will resume on Monday, January 6th.
