At Shadow Ridge, having school spirit is key to being a Mustang, and students and staff try their hardest to spread the spirit to every inch of the school!
The library and 200s, 300s, 800s and 900s hallways are all filled with artwork from Student Council, staff members, student artists, and art classes from the previous and current school years at Shadow Ridge.
Ms. Williamson, the librarian at Shadow Ridge, has a knack for the artwork around the school. She comments, “I think student artists appreciate seeing their and their peers’ artwork up around the school, and can share the experience with each other.”
The pieces on display throughout the school differ in many ways, appealing to almost everyone’s taste. Some have uplifting phrases, others have modern images, or hand-drawn pieces, livening up the hallways and inspiring everyone who walks around campus.
Senior, Noa Grover, is a very artistic student who loves lively colors and art.
Grover says, “I personally think that there should be more artwork displayed around Shadow Ridge. As someone who has been in painting for 3 years, I think the art hallway [200s] is my favorite, just because it’s so much more lively than the others.”
The staff at Shadow Ridge is constantly building up the school spirit with their good attitudes and admiring the artwork from students all over the school. When art is made at home, it really gives one a wider range of things they can create.
Williamson, who has also made art at home, adds, “I do have some pieces I made personally, hung up all around the library, like the book page flower, because I like to repurpose old damaged books. It’s important to me to not just throw them away when they can still be used for such beautiful things other than reading.”
At Shadow Ridge, there is always an opportunity for a student artist to share their works, whether it is with friends or the entire school. The staff members are always encouraging students to step out of their comfort zone, and sharing their creations with others can help achieve that tremendously.
The artwork at Shadow Ridge does not just encourage students, but it can also achieve a more comfortable scenery so that students and staff have a more comfortable environment to learn and teach in, resulting in a happier community throughout the entire school campus.
