The 3 time State Championship Flag Football Team is looking to get a 4th title this year.
Junior, Brynne Alia who is a center and tight end, and senior, Taylor McEvoy who is also a tight end are excited to get after it this year; they are two key members of the team who are bringing not just skill but also passion and leadership to the field.
Alia says, “Outside of football I’ve been preparing to be ready with whatever the coaches want me to do.”
Shadow Ridge’s Flag Football Team has a few juniors and seniors who definitely will be stepping up this year. They lost a lot of seniors last year and it’s key that their upperclassmen this year are ready to fill those roles.
McEvoy says, “I hope to carry my team to another championship by just continuing to support them in any way they need me both on and off the field.”
McEvoy, as a senior, chooses to step up and play a big role for Shadow Ridge’s Flag Football Team to lead them to another State Championship to hopefully be able to make history and win the 4th State Championship in a row.
Alia says, “I want to do whatever I can to help my team win. I want to be there to support my teammates. I’m planning to create bonds with everyone on the team and be there for my teammates whenever they need me.
“Working out is obviously how we stay in shape, practicing almost everyday now and working hard in the weight room. Mentally is the more challenging part, especially this season having everyone trying to keep us from winning a fourth year in a row. Just making sure to stay positive and focused is honestly all that will get us where we need to be this season,” says McEvoy.
There’s always disagreements with other teams, coaches, refs, even her own teammates during games, but McEvoy remembering that it really is just a game and she is there by choice helps her to stay positive and enjoy what she does.
“Good teamwork is us supporting each other and communicating on the field. Good teamwork will keep us connected and close. Bonding with each other at practice and before games will definitely bring the team together this season,” says Alia.
Teamwork looks like making sacrifices for one another in order to benefit the team as a whole, they ensure their team stays connected by always communicating and expressing what they need throughout the season.
As the winter season approaches, Shadow Ridge High School Flag Football is brimming with excitement and determination. After an incredible three consecutive State Championships, the team is more motivated than ever to continue their dominance on the field. With a strong, dedicated roster and a proven coaching staff, they’re eager to add a fourth state title to their impressive legacy.
