A change in banking is on its way to The Ridge, with a recent announcement directly from the bankers office, Shadow Ridge will now be transitioning to a new banking system. This change will have both negative and positive ramifications for students and faculty members.
Shadow Ridge Banker, Shannon Berge states, “The new system was the result of a district wide decision. Some schools were not able to take credit cards with the old system, so this change to an all new system will bring the entire district up for all schools to have a webstore and the ability to take credit cards.”
While this change will eventually enable all schools district wide to take credit cards, Shadow Ridge will unfortunately be unable to take credit card payments for about a month. Berge states, “So the biggest change will be no cards for about a month. I will be doing everything by hand, as I am trained on the new system and we close out the old system. I won’t know all of the ends and outs of the new system until I start training next month.”
Since Shadow already supported credit card payments it may seem like the change is an overall negative for students and staff, however this is not the case. “So the new system is web based, which is great,” states Berge. “Teachers should have the ability to log on and view payments, without me having to send them reports.”
“This will also give us a web store, which we need, so parents can pay online,” adds Berge. The new web based system will allow teachers and parents to experience a more seamless banking experience, more than making up for the month without credit card payments.
“On November 15th we will stop taking cards, so we can close out the old system on November 30th,” states Berge. “I will have 2 weeks of training in December and then hopefully by December 15th we will be on the new system.”
The new system will ideally be available the week before winter break, allowing parents and staff to wrap up any payments they may need to make before the holiday season.
“Of course we will have some bumps in the road, getting everyone trained and ready for business, but I think it will be great for Shadow and the entire district,” Berge states. “It’s going to take some time to learn everything but I think I am up for the challenge.”
