The Clark County School District has invited Shadow Ridge to be a part of an outreach program that allows students to gain internship experience for future use. It will be held during the summer of 2025 in June and July.
CCSD is recruiting students who are currently either high school sophomores, juniors, or seniors. The program put out a notice that the program is allowed for students to be 16+ by June 9th 2025.
It is also required in the recruitment process to have a 2.0 cumulative GPA with copies of recent transcripts. On a flyer, CCSD has asked that students not use their school email addresses when applying on the application and to have a letter of recommendation from a teacher, school administrator, religious leader, employer, etc. The letter may not be written by a family member.
The job will demand 10-weeks part time throughout the summer, however if Mustangs join the program they will be making $12 per hour. People who are interested in the internship are committing to Monday-Wednesday 8 hours a day, 24 hours per week.
“Once accepted, interns will receive the full schedule of events, including Orientation, Youth Forum, and the SBI Graduation Ceremony. On Thursdays, interns attend informational workshops (for which they are not paid) with various guest speakers and are taught Life Skills and Financial Management,” states the program flyer by Clark County.
Interns will be asked during the application process what their top three choices for their career are. This will help the program determine where they will be placed for learned activities. The organization will try and match the student to a mentor from the job field a student choses.
Job postings will be published on January 14th, 2025. Interested students must submit an application online by 5:00 pm on February 18th, 2025. The application will be uploaded to the Clark County Human Resources Department
Mustangs have to be quick when filling out applications as the first 250 are limited. Once the limit is reached, the job post will be revoked and students cannot access the forms to fill out. The district has made notice that the posting may be removed before the said deadline in February.
Students will be informed whether or not they made the internship by April of 2025, all notifications will be sent by email. CCSD has also asked students to only call the number on the flyer if they have extra questions about the program only, not about rejection or acceptances.
The counselors praise this program a bunch due to the factors it provides the Clark County School District’s students, especially the Shadow Ridge Mustangs.
“The summer business institute is a cool opportunity for students to get work place experience in a bunch of different areas in Las Vegas, such as different business government sectors and you also get paid which is even better. The program will also look good on a student’s resume for college and other job opportunities,” comments Ms. Hebb.
