Every year Shadow Ridge hosts a magical trip to Disneyland for all graduating seniors. The trip is near the end of this school year on May 9th, 2025. In the past, everyone has had a blast at the awesome resort, and Shadow is hoping to continue that fun tradition.
In order to be at the park for the maximum time possible, seniors leave Friday at 4 am to get to California at 9 am, right when the gates open. The students will arrive back in Las Vegas at 6 am on Saturday. The buses will stop once on the way to Disneyland, during which students will not be allowed off the bus, and there are no stops on the way back to Nevada. For the bus drive, Shadow provides students with snacks. The bus drive to California and back is about 5 hours. Seniors are also allowed to pick their seats, but not their bus.
Shadow Ridge seniors will receive park hopper tickets, which will allow them to switch between the two parks, Disneyland and California Adventure, starting at 11am. At a certain time, all of the seniors will be in California Adventure at night.
Shadow Ridge has been hosting this trip for more than 10 years, and Nikkole Turner, Assistant Principal, has been a chaperone for 4 years. There are usually 4 buses, with 3 chaperones per bus, plus an administrator, so a total of about 12 chaperones. In the past, usually about 160 seniors have gone on this day trip.
One of the most important things for seniors to remember is that they cannot be on the No Privilege List before the trip in May. Qualifications to stay off the list are no F’s, no more than 10 tardies, and no more than 7 unexcused absences, and all 3 of these things are for the 3rd quarter. Along with staying off of the No Privilege List seniors have some other restrictions.
“To be able to attend this trip, seniors must be on track to graduate, have good behavior, and can’t have fines,” Ms. Turner says.
The payment for each student will be about $350, and each senior will receive a payment plan, packets, and permission slips that they will need to fill out.
Isis Gwin is a senior who’s thrilled for this magical Disneyland trip and all the memories she will make.
“I’m so excited to go on a trip with all my senior classmates,” Gwin said.
