In the bustling halls of Shadow Ridge, a group of dedicated students operates behind the scenes. With a blend of creativity and determination, these student leaders meticulously plan events, tackle challenges, and foster school spirit. Their efforts, ranging from organizing rallies to implementing fundraising initiatives, underscore the impact of collaboration and commitment in enhancing student life and building a strong community.
Junior, Courtney Howard states, “My freshman year I really wanted to do StuCo to make new friends for my upcoming high school years, I have made life long friends in the process of being in Student Council.”
Howard highlights the importance of Student Council and the values of the school community. StuCo members have the opportunity to meet new people who are equally enthusiastic about helping others. The Student Council allows students to connect with like-minded individuals who share the same passion for making a difference. By actively engaging and offering assistance, students not only help create positive change but also find fulfillment in supporting others.
Freshman Lynlee Crnkovic stated, “I wanted to join the Student Council because it looks good for colleges. I also wanted to join because of friends, and I thought it sounded fun. I think that it was so worth it, and it turned out to be everything I thought it would be, and more.”
They both recognize that the Student Council is not only crucial to the school and its students, but also plays an important role in their lives now and in the future.
Howard continues, “I like Student Council because it feels like we’re all one big family. I love being able to work with everyone. I also love how we all get along despite our differences.”
She emphasizes the unexpected joys she has experienced since becoming a member of the Student Council. By being a part of the Student Council, Howard has found a sense of purpose and accomplishment in making a positive impact on her school’s community.
She describes how everyone comes together, working toward a shared goal and supporting each other along the way. The Student Council fosters an environment of unity and inclusivity, emphasizing the importance of leading by example and showing care for both the school and its community members.
Howard reiterates this by saying, “The most important thing about Student Council is caring for the school and the students in the school.”
