The entertainment capital of the world is no stranger to concerts, and during the summer with nothing but free time on a student’s hands, concerts are a perfect option for students looking to have a good time with or without friends. Shadow Ridge senior, Elaina Smith, takes advantage of any free time by seeking out and attending as many concerts as she can.
“The only concert I went to over the summer was Wallows,” Smith shared, referring to her time spent at The Chelsea at the Cosmopolitan.
Wallows, an indie rock band, has gained a devoted following over the years, most notably from their biggest song, “Are You Bored Yet” featuring Clairo, grossing over 900 million plays on Spotify alone. For Smith, the venue was a perfect match, setting the stage for an incredible experience.
“The venue is a great size, and there are springs built into the floor, which just adds to the energy in the atmosphere,” she explained.
The unique design adds a second layer of interactivity to the performance, bringing energy into the venue literally and figuratively.
Attending the concert with close friends and listening to good music, Smith found herself immersed in the atmosphere.
“They played their best songs, and I attended the concert with some of my best friends, so, all around, the vibe was just great,” she added.
The concert itself was a great experience, sharing it with others only added to its memorability.
While sharing the concert with friends helped with the concert’s impact, Smith says an unexpected twist made the night all the more notable.
The most memorable moment for me during Wallows was when they randomly decided to play my favorite song that wasn’t originally on the set list,” she recalled.
Smith adds on to this, saying she felt as if she were going to levitate into the sky after this.
While Smith only attended one concert during the summer, she is already looking forward to attending concerts in the future. “I’m super excited about some artists coming to Vegas. I plan to see Tears for Fears in November, and then hopefully after that, I can score some Lenny Kravitz, Billy Joel, or Front Bottoms tickets,” says Smith.
Many artists encompassing a wide variety of genres will soon be making their way to Vegas, including Carrie Underwood, Maroon 5, Wiz Khalifa, Kehlani, Zedd, and many more. For students planning on attending any concerts, it’s a great opportunity to experience live music and create lasting memories with friends while enjoying their favorite artists.
