The Shadow Ridge High School Cross Country Teams are preparing for the upcoming regional and state championships after a strong season of meets and practice. Both the boys’ and girls’ teams have worked hard throughout the year, positioning themselves as strong participants for the finale of the races coming up.
Throughout the season, both teams have demonstrated consistency and determination in their performances. Their commitment to training has been preparing them for the challenges ahead when they head into the regional meet being held at Veteran’s Memorial Park.
The coach of both teams, Andrew Flynn, states, “This year’s team is one of the fastest we’ve had.”
As the regional and state championships approach, the focus is on perfecting their race strategies and maintaining a strong mental attitude. Flynn and many others have emphasized the importance of staying focused and trusting in their preparation.
“In our most recent invitational, the Desert Twilight meet in AZ, our girls’ and our boys’ teams competed in the most challenging race of the night, the sweepstakes,” said Flynn. “Only the best of the best are accepted into this race and for a school to have two full teams racing in sweepstakes is huge,” he says.
With both teams aiming for top finishes, there’s a lot of excitement building around the upcoming races. Their scores in the regional meet will determine their placement in the State Championship meet. The athletes are determined to represent their school proudly and bring home strong results.
According to Flynn, “To make it to states, we need to finish in the top 3 at the regional meet.”
This leaves high expectations and little room for error in order for both teams to make it to the renowned State Championship. Then, the teams will have to work even harder to place number one in the State Championship.
Both races will be intense, but all of the work that the Shadow Ridge teams are putting in is entirely crucial to become the best there can be.
While the teams are working hard in preparation, Shadow Ridge’s Cross Country Teams are looking to cap off their hard work with standout performances at regionals and state, hoping to make this season one to remember.
