The Shadow Ridge Student Council is in constant need of tall men. Ladders must be climbed, posters must be hung, and huge paper rolls weighing about 46 pounds must be carried up and down stairs, from the gym to the 400’s, to and fro. Luckily for the senior class they have a few capable students to get the job done. Abe Pollock, Levi Stewart, and Jackson Luszeck are the only young men with a position in the Student Council Class of 2025.
Abe Pollock is a senior attending Shadow Ridge High School, obviously a member of the Student Council, and described himself as the best friends of both Stewart and Luszeck. In the Student Council, Pollock, along with Kate Quidato, is a spirit coordinator. To be a Spirit Coordinator, members of the Student Council must first run, win, and then take over responsibility as a professional “hype man.”
“This is the first year Spirit Coordinator has been its own position so it’s still being worked out, but I love engaging with the student body,” Pollock said.
This is Pollock’s second year in the class and said he was inspired to join by Stewart. Standing at six foot, Pollock described being a boy in Student Council to mean, “Lift heavy things and do tall person things.”
I’m sure Stewart can relate with the sentiment. He agreed with Pollock and declared, “To be a boy in Student Council is to be a peacemaker and reach tall stuff.”
Levi Stewart is also a senior, a member of the Student Council, and the Second Vice President of E-board. The Shadow Ridge High School Student Body Representatives make up the Executive Board. This position, though closely related with the Student Council, is not actually a part of the class. The members of E-board represent the entire school whereas Student Council officers represent their class. Stewart’s job as Second Vice President is to conduct community service for the school.
Jackson Luszeck is the Senior Class Vice President and the founder of Shadow Ridge’s “Just Serve” Club. He joined the Student Council two years ago during his junior year with Pollock. For Jackson, Student Council is the perfect combination of service and meeting with friends.
