Treyvn Peltier is a sophmore in high school here at SRHS. He loves painting and doing other kinds of crafts. Taking electives has been one of the most fulfilling things for him and has given him a place to go during school where he doesn’t feel stressed out. Painting is a passion of his and he hopes that he continues with it throughout his high school career.
Though it is something he didn’t expect, it is a hobby he thoroughly enjoys and even is something he does outside of school.
“I was not expecting to really enjoy painting or any of my artistic classes but painting has changed a lot for me and has made me more creative. I’m not big on sports and didn’t really have a hobby before but now I have found one that interests me,” Peltier stated.
Finding a place where students fit in with others and share similar interests is important when in high school. Finding a place where students can feel comfortable and safe to express themselves is crucial when growing up.
“Finding a place where I can express myself has been a little difficult for me. Since I started painting it has been a lot easier to express myself and find a place to do so. Not only have I been able to make friends and express myself through words but I have also been able to express myself through art now,” Peltier stated.
Having support from people at school can be a massive help, but the real true support comes from family. Having a family who supports students in their hobby or sport is a big thing. The support of having a loving family going to art shows and supporting their kids in what they love only encourages them to keep continuing with their passion and they may even branch out to try new things that also peak their interest.
“Having support from my teachers and friends at school has been a massive help but having the support of my family has been the most amazing thing. Without my family constantly encouraging me to push and not give up on what I love I would not be in the place I am today. I can not thank them enough without them always making sure I don’t get discouraged, I wouldn’t make the art work I do today,” Peltier stated.
Peltier is very proud of all of his achievements in painting. He loves his passion and hopes to continue with it and not give up on what he loves even when it gets hard. He loves that he got support from the people around and is so grateful to everyone who pushed him to be better.
