Senior twin towers of Shadow Ridge, Colin and Cameron McGinnis took the football field by storm this year.
Colin and Cameron are 17 years old and have been playing football since elementary school. Football runs in their veins as their father played at SDSU and was a big contributor to the historic teams SDSU used to put on the field. Colin is going to go to UNLV to pursue a degree in kinesiology and Cameron is going to CSN to study to become a firefighter and is going to transfer to another college and play football for them.
Senior English teacher Mrs. Smith states, “I feel like they are going to be immensely successful. Cameron has his entire life plan laid out in front of him. He has achieved important steps to become a firefighter and has done tremendous research about his future. Colin is simply stellar in the classroom and values his education. I can not wait to see how much these two achieve.”
The twins are both scholars in Mrs. Smith’s class. Colin and Cameron are both academic machines in class and are very strong leaders. The are both valedictorian candidates for the class of 2024.
Best friend of Colin, Austin Koven states, “Colin is the coolest person I have ever met and he’s always the life of the party. He’s such a good person and shows his girlfriend so much love. He was a pivotal piece to the football team and their success and is super smart as he is number 1 in the senior class.”
Colin’s academic success is thanks to his father’s knowledge and his hard work and dedication he shows in the classroom. Colin takes all AP and dual credit classes in order to achieve the highest levels of success.
The twins’ father, Nick McGinnis states, “I’m so proud of my kids, they are an inspiration to my life and I love how ambitious they are to be successful in life. I strongly believe Cameron will be a chief of a fire station in the next 20 years and Colin will have his own chiropractic office.”
Colin and Cameron have a great role model in their father. He has shown them how to be ambitious and work to be very successful and a provider for their future families.
Varsity Head Football Coach, Travis Foster states, “These two kids are some of the smartest and most dedicated football players I have ever coached. They are role model students in school and they make me want to come to football practice every single day.”
Both of these boys have been a big part of why Shadow Ridge football has made drastic improvements and is now a top contender in the state of Nevada.
