The Humans of New York was created by the photographer and writer Brandon Stanton. It started as a photography project in 2010, the goal was to photograph 10,000 New Yorkers on the street and create a catalog of the city’s inhabitants. As Brandon Stanton began interviewing his subjects featuring their portraits alongside, he includes quotes and short stories from their lives. This made Humans of New York (HONY) a vibrant blog. Reading these stories may inspire those aspiring to start a hobby of photojournalism and there is something so extraordinary about seeing a potential story in every individual. HONY has over 20 million followers on social media and provides a worldwide audience into the lives of strangers on the streets of New York. Make sure to follow @humansofny.
