Covid-19 Vaccine Status
Organizations and health groups around the world have been racing to create a vaccine for Covid-19. Over 170 hopeful vaccines are being tracked by the World Health Organization in various phases of testing. The two closest vaccine producers are Pfizer and BioNTech who have partnered up and are currently in phase 3 of testing (the last phase before release). The last stage of testing will take the longest to ensure the vaccine works the way it’s intended and be safe for widespread use. Testing for the Pfizer vaccine has shown a 95% success rate at protecting against infections. Once the vaccine is approved, health care workers will get first priority, followed by essential workers and high-risk patients. The general public will hopefully have access by next spring at the earliest but more likely by summer.
