Who Is The Teacher’s Pet?
Riley Marrs, Journalist
Through virtual learning, students at Shadow Ridge have been able to get a small glimpse into the daily lives of its teachers. What students would really like to see though are the pets behind the teachers. Some of these cute creatures may have already been spotted but if not, this is just a small sampling of the real heroes of this pandemic.
Rosie
Rosie is Mrs. Smith's dog. Rosie is a 6 year old Boston Terrier who loves to sit under Mrs. Smith's feet while she teaches. Not only does Rosie love to keep Mrs. Smith company, she snores loud enough for all of Mrs. Smith's students to hear. The Smith family was told that Rosie was a 5-star watchdog but the only thing Rosie seems to watch is food going into her family's mouths.
Angus and Violet
Angus and Violet are Ms. Brackney's dogs. Both of her doggos are Shepherd Husky mixes. Angus is 6 and Violet is 5. They are in love with their family and super friendly. They love traveling and just being home with everyone during quarantine. Angus can do a Chewbacca impression on command and Violet aspires to be an opera singer.
Luna and Tito
Ms. Fife's dogs are Luna and Tito. Luna is a boxer Pitbull mix and Tito is a Lab Bassett Hound mix. Luna and Tito are the best of friends who love to wrestle, play with their squeaky toys, go for long walks and car rides, and are very happy that Ms. Fife is working from home. Luna and Tito have the cute head tilt mastered and will do it on command whenever Ms. Fife says, "Do you wanna go for a...."...
Atticus
Atticus is Ms. Chamber's dog. He's 14 years old but acts like he's 2 years old. His favorite thing in the whole world is to carry around Ms. Chamber's dirty socks in his mouth. He enjoys them so much that he will even bark at her until she pulls off her sock for him. Or, he'll go after her feet to try to pull them off himself!
Madame Nibbles
Madame Nibbles, aka Ms. Nibz, is Ms. Easley's pet, believed to be a true gremlin in cat form and is probably 152 years old. Her favorite activities include biting feet, kneading blankets, and laying in the sun. She spends her days on Ms. Easley's lap helping her with all the tasks of virtual learning or battling her kitten friends for the perfect spot in the sun. She does not meow but is a pro growler....
Buckeye
Mr. Pack's pet is a one-eyed German Shepherd rescue named Buckeye. Buckeye was rescued by Mr. and Mrs. Pack from Westside German Shepherd Rescue in Los Angeles in July of 2018. He was found homeless on the streets of Temecula and is blind in one eye. Ever since then, Buckeye's life has changed and he is happier than ever before. Buckeye enjoys morning walks, sunbathing, and belly rubs but dislikes...
Leela
Leela, Ms. Porter's pet, is a chihuahua mix who loves cuddles and constant attention. Her favorite thing to do is to play with her toys in the background of live meets with Ms. Porter's students. She is scared of everything and everyone at first but quickly warms up to people. Her number one treat is a Puppoccino (whipped cream) from Starbucks or the Coffee Bean.
Snickers
Snicker, Ms. Gibo's cat, is very adventurous. She loves hiking and long walks on the beach, along with other things like playing hide and seek and smelling catnip. If she gets ignored or is hungry she will let you know by meowing very loudly but she is a friend to all.
Ollie
Ollie is Ms. Baker's 2-year-old golden doodle. He loves to camp, hike, swim, play ball, and hang with his moms and go off-roading. He pretty much loves to do anything they do! The cutest thing he does when he’s tired is kneading his blankie. Other than that he’s a go with the flow type pup and very popular with the kids in their community!
Bindi
Bindi is Ms. Perri-Crane's four-year-old cat named Bindi. She likes school very much, when the Google meet starts she jumps up on Ms. Perri-Crane's lap and looks at the monitor and the students. She is learning English and Spanish this year. Sometimes she thanks her by licking her face!
Boulder
Mr. Nighswonger's cat is named Boulder and he likes to fight, dance, and take naps. When Boulder first joined the family, Mr. Nighswonger's son named him Boulder because he thought he looked like a Boulder! He has really been enjoying distance learning because he gets to be around the family all day, it's like dream come true!
Henry and Jeter
Henry and Jeter are Mrs. Myles Dogs, and they were both rescued. Henry was from a neighbor who realized they didn't have enough energy for 2 newly purchased puppies and Jeter was from Pups on Parole. They became fast friends and were immensely protective of Mrs. Myles's children. They have brought so much love and joy to their family. They love apples and cheese but won't touch lettuce. The smaller...
