The teaser trailer for the new movie Lightyear  has been released. It is a spin off of the Toy Story franchise and it tells the story of the real astronaut who inspired the toy line within the movie universe. The movie is set to drop next summer on June 17th, 2022.

The story tells that of a test pilot who becomes a space ranger and how he got there. Chris Evans will be voicing Buzz in the spin off instead of Tim Allen, who voiced the original Buzz. This is because this movie tells the story of the real life Buzz and not the toy.

Lightyear is being directed by Angus MacLane, who has directed a few Toy Story shorts and helped direct Finding Dory. The movie will be Pixar’s 26th animated feature. This will also be Evans first collab with Pixar. Evans plays the popular super hero Captain America in the Marvel films.

Evan’s is really excited to be apart of this movie, saying, “I’m covered in goosebumps. And will be every time I watch this trailer. Or hear a Bowie song. Or have any thought whatsoever between now and July because nothing has ever made me feel more joy and gratitude than knowing I’m a part of this and it’s basically always on my mind.”

Katie McDowell, junior, is a big Disney and Pixar fan and his been watching Toy Story since she was a kid.

McDowell says, “I think it was a really interesting approach from Pixar. I love how it can be an attachment to the Toy Story franchise without making Toy Story 5.” McDowell goes on to say, “My first reaction to seeing the trailer was honestly excitement… as a toy story fan, I felt a lot of excitement to see such an important part of my childhood be updated.”

Lightyear is expected to do really well at the box office, especially because it’s a summer release and Pixar has been doing well with summer releases in recent years.

Preston Cobb, freshmen says, “I think its a good idea and I think it will do very well… I think its a good and exciting idea.”

A lot of people are really excited for this movie.
